Quality Control Systems in the Generic Pharmaceutical Industry and Their Role in Enhancing Consumer Trust Case study of the SAIDAL Group (Dar El-Beida Unit)

Abstract

This study examines the role of quality control systems in enhancing consumer trust in generic medicines in Algeria, by analyzing the impact of three dimensions: perceived quality, healthcare professionals' recommendations, and trust in regulatory institutions. The research is situated within the context of national policy aimed at promoting generic medicines to reduce imports and achieve pharmaceutical sovereignty. A quantitative approach was adopted, based on a theoretical framework of trust and perceived quality. The findings indicate that quality control systems positively influence consumer trust, and that this trust is not only linked to technical quality, but is also shaped by relational factors (professional recommendations) and institutional factors (credibility of regulatory bodies). This highlights the need for an integrated approach combining quality, communication, and transparency. The study concludes with recommendations for regulatory authorities, pharmaceutical laboratories, and healthcare professionals to strengthen trust and promote the use of generic medicines in Algeria.
